Fresh beginnings! Fresh beginnings can be initiated by a new year, new month, new week or even a new day. Sometimes a fresh beginning comes in the form of a new career, a new home or even a move to a new location somewhere on this little green planet. Regardless of how a fresh beginning comes about there is something about getting a new start that triggers some level of excitement. It is a chance to "wipe the slate clean" so to speak, and try to make up for what we may have missed doing right in the past. Wilted…but still ALIVE!
Several weeks ago I made a quick trip to our local home improvement/garden center. I was in a hurry but as I walked by the indoor plant section one small ivy caught my eye. It was really a pathetic sight. The soil was completely dry and though the plant was still green, the leaves were quite limp and wilted. The lack of a price tag simply added to the sad state of the ivy but never the less I picked it up and put it in my shopping cart. The struggling ivy had tugged at the nurturer within me and I just knew I had to try to revive it! At the checkout counter the cashier was quick to give me a discount on the plant. Learning to Wait
Sometimes God says, "WAIT!" "Wait" does not mean that God has not heard your plea or that He is denying your request. Nor does "wait" mean for you to run ahead full force on your own. Just as a loving parent would never allow their small child to cross a street alone, so it is with our Heavenly Father. Instead the parent firmly grabs hold of their child's hand and says, "WAIT" looking carefully to see when it is safe to move ahead. Perhaps today you are hearing "WAIT!" Or maybe you are feeling a firm grip on your life that does not allow you to move in a certain direction! If so then be patient. Trust God. Father knows best and his timing is without fail!
